Single Arch Thermo-Forming Bleaching Tray

Custom Molded Trays are considered the gold standard in delivering bleaching product to the teeth.
The purpose of the tray is to act as a barrier between the saliva and the bleaching product.
It allows for comfort, even application/whitening, and less product to be used.
Custom trays made by a dental lab give the “perfect” fit however they can be expensive.
Use of Thermo-Forming Trays:
Take small scissors and trim the tray along the gingival-gum/teeth line.
This does several things:
A.) the gel will not be exposed to the gum tissue during treatment thus reducing gum irritation/temporary blanching of tissue.
B.) Trimming the tray from the gum/teeth line approx. 1/4 -1/2 of an inch avoids wasting product or using too much product.
C.) Trimming or referred to as “scalloping” the tray is key to the bleaching technique.
D.) Trim the ends of the tray by approx.½-1 inch when bleaching only the 6-8 front teeth.
